Excise Department Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Liquor Trade; Major Seizure in Pali

Jaipur: Acting on the directions of Excise Commissioner Shivprasad Nakate, the state excise department has intensified its special preventive अभियान across the state to curb smuggling of liquor from other states, illegal manufacture, storage, transportation and sale of alcohol. Under the ongoing drive, effective actions including road blockades, patrolling and raids are being carried out, and cases are being registered against offenders.

In a major operation in Pali district, excise officials seized a large consignment of illegal liquor during the inspection of a truck. On Sunday, in Sojat area of Pali, the excise enforcement team intercepted a truck and found 498 cartons of various brands of English liquor marked “For Sale in Punjab” concealed in a secret chamber built beneath paper rolls. The estimated value of the seized liquor is around ₹45 lakh. Two accused were arrested at the spot and cases have been registered as per rules.

Meanwhile, in Dausa, the excise enforcement team destroyed 300 litres of wash during a separate कार्रवाई to prevent illicit liquor production. In Dholpur, intensive vehicle checks were conducted on National Highway 123, while in Alwar, excise teams carried out vehicle inspections after setting up a blockade at the Sheetal Toll Plaza.

Similar preventive measures, including nakabandi, raids and intensive patrolling, are being undertaken in other districts of the state as part of the special campaign to curb illegal liquor activities.

Excise officials said the drive will continue in the coming days to ensure strict enforcement of excise laws and to prevent revenue loss as well as public health risks arising from illegal liquor trade.
